Plum Pretty Sugar Brings Style to Loungewear

Written By Alyse Wax

Lingerie normally falls into two categories: comfy, cozy, but ultimately utilitarian; or pretty, sexy, but ultimately not very comfortable. The people at Plum Pretty Sugar want to change all that. How? With something they call loungerie.

Launched in 2009 by Charlotte Mills, the idea behind Plum Pretty Sugar is that you can look beautiful and still feel beautiful; "easy-living chic" is what Mills calls it. Her collection consists of wispy robes (both long and short), belted tunics, and low-cut pajama sets. Plum Pretty Sugar's floral patterns have a bohemian feel without being "crunchy"; they are vintage-looking without feeling old or dowdy. Cotton voile and Habutai silk ensure a flattering drape and lightness on the skin.

Mills likes to say that "you can quit your day job." After years working the business side of beauty and fashion, she made the leap to designing and sewing. "I awoke one morning with the bohemian-chic and whimsically-wise Plum Pretty Sugar concept," she says.

In addition to cozy-sexy loungewear, Plum Pretty Sugar also offers a line of linens--after all, your bed is an integral part of the lounging process. Mills even uses fabric remainders to make headbands, coin purses, and other odds and ends to prevent waste. Plum Pretty Sugar, for making the sexy comfortable, and the comfortable sexy, you are Character Approved!
