There are a lot of arguments for the validity of Twitter as a social networking tool, but I think this might be one of the most convincing. The other day, Anti Records tweeted about this rare gem: The very Character Approved Tom Waits covering James Brown's classic "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" in 1987.

Not only is this a wild, soulful rendition with a full band, but it's a great example of one icon tackling another's work and reinterpreting it in a unique way. Thanks to the internet, it lives on. And thanks to Twitter it's being shared from one fan to another.
