It's an age-old debate: Which is better, the book or the movie? A new website sets out to prove that regardless of the answer, it's all entertainment. Word and Film describes itself as the "intersection of books, movies, and television."
Launched by book publisher Random House, the site features content from across the film, television and book industries. "This is not a film tie-in site," they say. "Word and Film instead is a site that explores connections between books and movies, books and TV, Hollywood (as a business) and books, and exhibits Random House's books from yesterday, today and tomorrow, from The Big Sleep, Jaws, A Christmas Story, and The Exorcist to The Millennium Trilogy, The Social Network, Never Let Me Go, and Dexter."
Recent articles on Word and Film look at the upcoming HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, based on the book by James M. Cain; and Booker prize-winning author Salman Rushdie's new venture Next People, a Showtime dramatic series. And like any great film site, there's speculation about who will be cast for roles in upcoming films: Will Jude Law and Aaron Johnson star in the new Joe Knight/Keira Knightley adaptation of the classic novel Anna Karenina?
If you're a film buff or a reader, Word and Film provides Character Approved reading about the behind-the-scenes workings of the publishing and film industries.
