Kristen Wiig has risen from the small screen on SNL to being one of the big screen's funniest leading women. Earlier this year, she stole laughs in Nick Frost and Simon Pegg's offbeat alien comedy Paul. Now, with her new film Bridesmaids, Wiig is showing the world that she's not only a Character Approved actor, but a Character Approved writer as well.
Partnering with Annie Mumolo on the Bridesmaids script, Wiig proves that she's not afraid to take risks in comedy both on and off camera. As the lead character Annie, she puts herself in many awkward situations. While most people might be tempted to pen a heroic character for themselves, Wiig realizes that humor is found in very flawed, relatable characters. Instead of just attempting to make herself look good on the silver screen, Wiig delivers the kind of jaw-dropping comedy that provides viewers with weeks of residual laughter.
Bridesmaids is Wiig's first feature film as a co-writer and co-producer, and it has proved to be an overwhelming success. We're already looking forward to more from this talented actor and writer.
