Clocking in as the coolest architectural idea yet this summer is the + Pool, a proposed floating pool for New York City.
While the Hudson River has become much healthier over the last 15 years, it's still not the cleanest place to swim; the waters are too brackish and rough. With + Pool, designed by Family and Playlab with famed engineering group Arup, a plus-shaped pool floats in the East River, filtering the river water passively (as in it's a big sieve floating in the river, not something requiring power or big filtering machines), and allowing for the most awesome New York City sightseeing anywhere: in-river river views!
It's Character Approved because the idea could work anywhere, and would create whole new ways of experiencing a city: from a floating pool island.
