Writing about architecture and design for many years now, I've come across my fair share of unique vacation destinations. However, my most recent discovery might be my favorite--and the most unusual.
Remember the movie Bubble Boy? Well, now you too can live in a bubble for a few days, except that you can come and go as you please. French company BubbleTree offers a unique camping experience that allows you to not only connect with nature, but see nature as it happens around you.
Their Bubblehut range, designed by Pierre Stephane Dumas, includes a hut and a lodge, both of which have a completely transparent ceiling so that you can lay in bed and gaze at the stars. The hut is a one-room bubble, while the lodge can accommodate a bathroom and/or a children's room. The hut and lodge have white walls for privacy, but courageous individuals might opt for the CristalBubble, a completely transparent bubble room!
If that isn't enough of an adventure for you, what about staying in the treehouse? Each one has a retractable bubble sphere so that during the day, you can literally be out in the open. At night, you can surround yourself with the bubble to create a more private, protected sleeping nook.
You can rent the BubbleTree bubbles individually or go for their full bed and breakfast experience. According to their website, BubbleTree can set up a bubble just about anywhere. Imagine spending an unforgettable wedding night under the stars! The possibilities are endless, and that's what makes BubbleTree Character Approved.
