Just as a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, so too will these great covers help ease the pain of going back to school. Here are some of my favorite, Character Approved covers of songs about school and the end of summer.

- Of Montreal - Back to School (Royal Trux cover): It's that time of year, folks. Time to head back to school. Royal Trux knew what fall meant and Of Montreal shares it again with us in this crazy cover.

- T. Rex - Summertime Blues (Eddie Cochran): For many people, summer's all about work and saving up to do fun stuff. The ultimate summertime bummer: heading back to school without having had enough summer fun. But hey, there's always the fall.

- Mötley Crüe - Smokin' in the Boys Room (Brownsville Station cover): I don't want to encourage any bad behavior, but it doesn't get much more school-themed than Brownsville Station's "Smokin in the Boys Room," or this cover by Mötley Crüe. Forget Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2"--this is the best song for rebelling against school authority.

- Weezer - Teenage Dirtbag (Wheatus cover): No song better mixes the doldrums and great potential of high school than Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag." Of course, loads of people have had issues remembering the band's name and mistakenly ascribed the song to Weezer instead of Wheatus. Luckily, Weezer is a wildly self-aware band and threw a cover of this '90s classic into a few live shows.
