Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' portraits tap into the souls of the sitters and bring out the hidden quality of their personalities.
Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, Greenfield-Sanders has brought his skills to The Latino List, an exhibit of large-scale portraits of 25 influential Latinos, on display at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Through the work, Greenfield-Sanders explores what it means to be Latino today.
With subjects including Eva Longoria, John Leguizamo, Sonia Sotomayor, Pitbull, and America Ferrera, the portraits represent Latinos from the worlds of entertainment, politics, culture, business, and sports. The exhibit is accompanied by video interviews of the subjects sharing their stories of Latino life, which have also been made into a documentary for HBO. Check out the film's trailer to see some clips from the interviews:
For his ability to share this important part of American culture in a meaningful, powerful way, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is Character Approved. The exhibit, which is sponsored by AT&T, is at the Brooklyn Museum of Art through Dec 11th.
