This week we've got the rare treat of a double honor, for two individuals whose work has already produced six Academy Awards, five Golden Globes, eleven Emmy Awards, two Peabodys, a Grammy, two Tony Awards, and more. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron got their start in theatre before helping re-invent the movie musical with Chicago, Hairspray, Annie, the Music Man, Cinderella, and Footloose.
We're honoring the Character Approved duo for then taking all of that movie experience back with them to New York and using it on their first love--the stage. Here, they have produced two hit revivals: Promises, Promises starring Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes, and this season's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette.
Next up? They're bringing even more Broadway to the small screen with their work on NBC's upcoming Smash, which premieres in February and deals with the behind-the-scenes creation of a Broadway musical. It stars Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Katharine McPhee, and a slew of Broadway Talent.
We'll be watching!
