Kids Really Cook on Web Series "Kids Who Love to Cook"

Written By Terry Boyd

Every day, we hear more and more about nutrition and its effect on the health of our children. Childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes are at all-time highs, and kids are even beginning to develop adult health problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

One solution gaining a lot of attention is to teach kids to cook as a way of getting them to eat healthier--now and for a lifetime. Last year, we reported on Jamie Oliver's Jamie's Home Cooking Skills website. Now, New York producer Giselle Deiaco has launched an innovative new web series sure to get kids' attention. It's called Kids Who Love to Cook--and the cooks and teachers in the videos and on the accompanying website are all kids! The stars are seven enthusiastic youngsters who bring varied tastes and cultural influences to the series. This video will introduce you to them--and to the flavor of the web series:

As we all look for ways to get children to eat better and live healthier, the Character Approved Kids Who Love to Cook is an especially engaging tool that families can share. Aimed at children 8 to 16, it features cooking videos, recipes, food adventures, and contests for beginner cooks, future chefs, and foodies. And given the state of home cooking these days (or more accurately, the lack of cooking in many homes), parents may learn from these kid cooks too.
