Aretha Franklin Announces Her Engagement

Soon we'll have to call her Mrs. Queen of Soul.

The legendary Aretha Franklin announced she plans to tie the knot to longtime friend William "Willie" Wilkerson, a former firefighter from Detroit. The 69-year-old singer joked in a statement about her engagement, "...no, I'm not pregnant."

This Character Approved romantic is talking about a summer wedding in South Beach, and like any blushing bride, has her eye on dress designers as famous in their fields as she is in hers. She's considering Donna Karan, Valentino, and Vera Wang to create something fabulous for her walk down the aisle.

It seems 69 is the new 29! That's one way to get some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
