The world said a sad farewell to an American icon on Friday when Etta James died in California at age 73, but this Character Approved blues singer left us with an enduring song to ensure that her legacy will always live on.
James first sang "At Last" in 1961, and the song has certainly stood the test of time. In fact, Beyoncé sang it for President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2008.
"At Last" wasn't James' only hit, but it was her most famous. She won four Grammy Awards over the years, including one for lifetime achievement.
Stars like Will.i.am, Kirstie Alley, and dozens of others gave tribute to James this weekend through Twitter, expressing gratitude for her talent and the gifts her legendary voice gave to all of us. She will be missed.
