The Architect's House, As Only Zaha Hadid Could Do It

If there were ever a match made in heaven, it would be Zaha Hadid's work and the southern coast of California. Her curved, shell-like forms sweep in a way that has always suggested waves: waves of space, time, and water. Her insistence on creating cutting-edge design perfectly matches the design freedom that has been in SoCal since the early 20th Century.
Plans for her Character Approved new project for San Diego, a house for her own use, were approved recently, so Hadid will likely build this beautiful structure in the near future. The house keeps low to the ground, but it's sited on the top of a hill so as to look out at the ocean (over the other houses in the area). It's a dramatic profile, yet like a Hollywood star it gives the street only a hint of the excitement inside.
